Since college, I have always known if I were to have a girl, Majken would be her name. My roommate had an aunt with that name and I just instantly loved it. I'm having a hard time with the meaning, can anyone help?

Majken is derived from Mariken, which is an old German nn for Maria. It's pr. MY-ken (MY rhymes with "eye").

Mariken and Maiken are Low German pet forms for Marie and Mai (Low German and Frisian short form of Marie).

-ken is a Low German diminutive ending (-chen in High German).

Majken is the Swedish spelling for Maiken.

I think Majken is a Swedish/Finnish form of Michael. It could also be a form of Maaike (Dutch), in the last case, Maaike -> Maria -> Mary, (click the hyperlink for the meanings).

I think it's an old germanic name, a form of Maike or Maaike probably. (which are dutch) In the middle ages a lot of Dutch girl-names ended with en. (for instance Mariken, which is an old form of Marieke.)
It could also be a scandinavian name.
