If course it comes from the Latin root for Mort (Death, Dead what have you) where French, Spanish and other romance languages also get their words from. Considering the Addams family, you would have to have a name that would be as unusual as they were. It is a made up name similiar to Patricia. Other names they used were Octavia and Ophelia.
