It's very possible, since Old English and Old German are (if I'm not mistaken) connected too. The Yiddish name Golda is translated as Zahava ("golden") in Hebrew.Although most words in Yiddish come from Old German and Hebrew, there are some things that are close to French, Italian, or even English ("woe is me" / "wei is mir").
