I love Irish names myself. I wish I was Irish!! Ive asked everyone in my family if there was even a little bit of Irish in me and much to my dissapointment theres not so I know how you feel!! My bf has a tiny bit in him though so at least our kids will have a little bit in them which makes me a little bit happier!!

No I dont think that its wierd to use names that are not from your etnicity (spelling?). I think if oyu love the name you should use it no matter what. I mean even names like Aiden are not English or American and still it is one of the most popular names out there. So if you love Svetlana use it. And if it becomes a hassle and people make fun or something like that theres always the great nn Lana!!
