I think Isabel looks incomplete next to Isobel, which is much prettier, IMO.
But maybe that's because I first heard of the spelling Isobel, and when I read Enid Blyton's Twins at St. Clares books, I thought Isabel (one of the twins) was a creative spelling, since I'd never heard of it before!
