I think it's awesome. It's got real character to it, especially in comparison to overused classics like James, and Archie makes a great nickname. It's neither pretentious nor trashy--just historical and currently underused in America.
Plus, it makes me think of Horatio Hornblower, which is NEVER a bad thing. ;)
