How fanciful. I say that because the flower is traditionally very meaningful, so using Lotus as a name is a thoughtful idea. However, the English word just isn't very much like a feminine name, since we're used to -us being a masculine ending like in Latin names. So it feels a little funky and "out there" to call a girl Lotus -- like every time you address her, you're invoking all the meaning of a lotus. It's a bit .. heavy. A fancy or foreign word / name meaning "lotus" might be less so.Still and all, I think it's a neat thing. Sort of along the lines of virtue names, only more modern sounding and less stuffy. I wouldn't use it, but I approve. - chazda
