[Opinions] Allegra
Allegra - Beautifull Italian name 'or' Allergy medicine ?
If you loved the name, would you not use it because of the damn allergy medicine?

Who cares about the allergy medicine. It has been a name for much longer than there has been a medicine named Allegra. I think it's a beautiful name.
I love it, but I would never use it on a real girl. For 3 reasons, Allergy medicine, "Allegra's Window" on TV and I associate it with one of my character's name.
I would not use it.
I take the stuff so I could never use the name, and if you named a child that they would probably get made fun of.

When I was a little girl, I loved this name and wanted to name my little girl Allegra one day. It's such a lively (literally) name. Now I fear it will always be associated with the allergy medication.

It's a name to me and always will be. My friend's daughter was named Allegra Bliss, but she died of SIDS when she was two weeks old so this name will forever be bitter-sweet to me. ♥

I don't care for it (I don't think it's nice sounding), but I do think of the medicine. But, if I loved a name, nothing would stop me from using it, since I don't base my opinions on associations.
Beutifual Italian name ruined by allergy medication
Love it but would no longer use it because of the association. What if they find out in 10 years that allegra (the drug) causes infertility or hemorrhoids? I wouldn't my child to be burdened with that association.

Italian name
And Clara Allegra Byron (1817-1822), illegitimate daughter of Lord Byron and Claire Clairmont. She was also the half-sister of Ada Lovelace by her father, and the stepsister of Mary Shelley (of Frankenstein fame). Allegra's mother had originally called her Alba, but Lord Byron overruled her and renamed their daughter Allegra. When Allegra died, her father was so heartbroken that he never spoke her name again. He died exactly two years to the day after her.
The allergy medicine will give way to newer, better drugs. That's the lifecycle of a medicine. In 15-20 years, I bet it'll be a thing of the past.
By contrast, Allegra the name is a traditional Italian name that's been used for ages before the medicine. And it'll probably far outlive the medicine too. I think Allegra's a fine name, poetic and strong.

Ha Ha---the med does kinda ruin it, doesn't it. My first association with the name is to music, but now that you mention it i can't seem to shake the med name. Sorry---another beautiful named ruined.
allergy med
I wouldnt do to too many associations
I don't like it, it sounds too much like the word "alegre", that means in Catalan the same than in Italian, cheerful, and I don't like too much the sound of it. Sorry. I don't think about allergy, though.
