[Facts] Re: what does my first name mean?
in reply to a message by Melquiades M. Aseron III
In the bible, Melchizedek is the king and priest of the city of Salem (Jerusalem; read Genesis 14). This is why Zedek has sometimes been thought of as an ancient god of the city; but there seems to be little evidence for this. But there is something mysterious about Melchzedek anyway.
In the Hebrew bible his name is Malki-Tsedek, which translates either „King of justice“ or (less probably) „my king is just(ice)“.
Melchizedek is also mentioned in the New Testament (Letter to the Hebrews 7).
