[Opinions] Re: Nancy

I love Nancy! It's dated, sure, but it's also a classic: it's been used since the 18th century! It's one of the few nn names that doesn't sound like a nn, and that I like as a full-fledged independant given name.
It sounds spunky, feminine (but not frilly), a bit airy, but also solid at the same time. It's unusual today and would be a very refreshing change from today's more trendy/popular names.
Nancy's my favourite spelling, since I believe it's the original. However, Nancie doesn't look bad at all to me.
I wouldn't recommend Nansy, since it does look similar to Pansy (itself not a bad name--it means "thought"--if it wasn't a slang for "gay" and/or "sissy"). Nansy might encourage "nancy boy" jokes more so than Nancy alone would imo. For what it's worth, however, I personally don't think of "nancy boy" jokes when I hear Nancy or Nancie.
