According to my sources, "Ryder" is a name of English origin and means: "horseman, rider".
The name has only recently started gaining somewhat in popularity in the United States, beginning in the 1990's, when the Social Security Department recorded the name "Ryder" as being ranked #939 out of the 1,000 most popular names for boy children registered that decade.
