[Opinions] Lots of Catalan names...
Well, I'm going to give you a site were you can found lots of names every day...
In the Catalan TV there's a kind of children's club called "Club Súper 3", with typical good/bad carachters, that appear between the cartoons' series... Well, children can become a member of this club, and then you receive a card and they give you some invitations (for museums, attractions' parks...) for your birthday, you can answer some questions they ask and you win a price... And, since Catalunya is a really small country, I'd say 99% children are "súpers" (that's what they call us, "súper" ;-)), and it really has a social influence around here... even the typical "Happy birthday to you" song (obviously translated into Catalan) has been changed for the Club Súper 3's one!!!
And, that's all because, in the club's page, they put the birthdays of the day, the name of every "súper" from 0 to 16 years old, and I thought you could be interested...So, this is the page: http://www.super3.net/permoltsanys/Obviously, it's in Catalan, so: click in every letter in the box and a list of names will apear. The letter is the first's last name (we have two) initial, and it appears this way:AGUILAR BAGARIA, MARC · 7 anys = that's: two last names (first dad's last name, first mum's last name), the first name, and the years the kid reach ("anys" means years). I've chosed this name because is the first Marc that appears today and, believe me, you'll find a lot in these lists!! It's a really overused name...Well, hope this all make sense, and you enjoy it!!!
Evammm...some notes:
·Above the letter's box says "Avui fan anys 1412 súpers", that means "Today 1412 "súpers" reach years", and the number is similar every day so...lots of names!
·If you have the sound on, you'll heart the "Happy birthday" song -the one of the Club.
·I've thought about it because today it's my little cousin's birthday. His name is Martí and he's the sweetest baby on earth!!Enjoy!!

Hi, Cristy! Glad you liked it!
This list of you has many Spanish names, but that's because there are lots of people with Spanish names, specially in the capital, Barcelona. Where I live, we mostly speak Catalan and use Catalan names.
(pronunciations according on this site's guide)Isabel - it isn't really a popular name between children, it's pronunced ee-zuh-BEL (as in Belle). I love it.
Marina (muhr-EE-nuh)- quite popular, really reminds of the sea, that is "mar" in Catalan (Mar (MAr) is a well known name too).
Sofia (soo-FEE-uh)- not really popular in Catalunya, maybe because it's the Spanish queen's name? I love it but could never use because of it, don't know if you understand me...
Anna (AN-nuh)- so overused, at least were I live, I can't even count how many Annas I know! I don't specially like it.
Natalia - we write it Natàlia, pron. nuh-TA-lee-a, not overused, but usual.Tiago - it isn't "exactly" Catalan, since Santiago isn't, but it's better than Santi, the normal nn for Santiago in Spanish, since in Catalan we make the diminutives by the end (does it make sense?: Elisabet, Bet; Ignasi, Nasi; Isabel, Bel) or contracting the name (Joan (male's name), Jan; Lluís, Llis; Josep, Jep- Pep...).
Samuel -I have never met a Samuel...
Alejandro - Spanish, Catalan form is Alexandre. I guess its really popular, but where I live there are Alexandre-s or Àlex-s.
Joaquim (joo-uh-KEEM)- This is really Catalan, but not popular at all in children (in adults it is quite popular). I love the nn Quim (KEEM), now used sometimes as a given name.
