[Opinions] Rate my recent GP boy names :)
Some guilty pleasure boy names that I recently added to my long list; how would you rank them 1-10 (1 being awful & 10 being great/perfect)?
And by guilty pleasure I just mean that these are names I enjoy/appreciate the sound, look or ‘vibe’ of but I almost certainly wouldn’t use on a real kid, for various reasons, and if I did it would probably be as a mn. Belvedere (“bel-va-deer”)
Cymbeline (any nn ideas for this one?)
Dashwood
Kitto
Oleander
Ptolemy
Bonus: Tess as a nn for a boy, no idea what the fn would be lol

Belvedere — 3/10
Cymbeline — 11/10. I love love love this name so much.
Dashwood — 4/10
Kitto — 5/10 as a nickname, 2/10 as a full name
Oleander — 9/10. I love this one a lot too and I'd rate it higher if it weren't poisonous lol.
Ptolemy — 4/10. Fine, but not for me.
Tess — 5/10, could be cute.

I was wondering if anyone else thought Kitto sounds like Kiddo, that’s the reason it’s a guilty pleasure for me :(

Oh, well, I think it's cute! It's just not my usual style. (:

Belvedere - Like it! It's got a kind of sophisticated air to it
Cymbeline - I think it's okay, I really associate it with the Shakespeare play though. "Bell" could be a cute nickname?
Dashwood - It's not really my style but I do think it's got some nice nickname potential with "Dash"
Kitto - I'm unfamiliar with this name and I don't think it's really my style, "Kit" would be a cute nickname though
Ptolemy - I personally don't like it
Tess could be a really cute nickname for a boy, I'm not sure what name it could be for though

I don't like any of the names and can't see Tess as a boy's name or nn

I can see Tess as boys name! Maybe as nickname for Thomas or Travis?I know quite a few pubs and hotels named Belvedere (with its meaning being “beautiful view”) so I struggle seeing it as a first name. Cymbeline (2) has always struck me as feminine (but I have never read the play)Dashwood (7,5) is dashing! It makes me think of the Jane Austen’s Dashwood sisters. On that note my gp is Bingley! Kitto (8) - Never heard of it before, but I like it! Oleander (6) - Makes me think of HP, eventhoigh the character is named Olivander. I can see the appeal. Ionia that I look more closely it looks like the combination of two Scandinavian named: Ole and Ander(s)Ptolemy (4) - how I struggled with this name! It took me a long while to learn how to pronounce it and I think a child will struggle how to spell it. The name also reminds me of chemistry?

Thank you for the reply, I’m happy to hear someone else likes Tess! Thomas is a good idea for a fn for it. And I love to hear you like Dashwood; Bingley is so fun!
